What’s been going on at mama♥miss this past week?

Well, take a quick glance into my window & catch up :)

Thursday, we were digging and sorting and digging…

Friday, there were ancient puffy drawings…

Monday, we ate some prehistoric treats…

Tuesday, the dinos resurrected the 80’s…

Cave Man Drawings with Homemade Puffy Paint

Keeping with the dinosaur theme we have going on…I decided to get all prehistoric on you and make cave man drawings today with our very own homemade puffy paint.  The thing with cave man drawings is that there is no rhyme or reason, no path for them to follow, and no lines to stay in.  The kiddos can just have all the fun they want, being silly, being messy, and doodling with paint filled squeeze bottles – yippee!!

The puffy paint turned out so super cool, I can’t wait to share it with you!

Ingredients/Tools:

  • flour – 1 cup
  • salt – 1 cup
  • water – 1 cup
  • food coloring
  • bowl
  • large whisk
  • squeeze bottles
  • spoon or mini whisk
  • watercolor paper (I used this cheapo 5×7 pad that I got for $1 at Jo-Ann Fabrics)
  • some little toddler hands to squeeze those bottles ;)

Directions:

  1. Mix flour, salt & water in bowl with whisk; Remove all the clumps.
  2. Divide mixture amongst squeeze bottles – I used 5 bottles/5 colors.
  3. Add several drops of food coloring to each bottle, making it lighter or darker to your preference.
  4. Blend each individual bottle mixture with spoon or mini whisk.
  5. “Paint proof” your area & let them have fun squeezing out the paint (I had to cut a little bit off of each bottle tip to allow more paint to come through).
  6. Wait a couple of hours & the paint puffs up!

Fun times!! :)

To store – keep the bottles sealed up & stick the bottles in a sealed large Ziploc bag.  They will keep for about 2 days, then you will have to remake the mixture :)

This has been one of V’s favorite activities all week…she has insisted on doing this everyday since :)

Keep Calm & Paint On!
